Vertical synchronization or at least some sort of FPS limiter is an absolute must have for me in fullscreen mode otherwise -> tearing. This is more a pro than a con, having vertical synchronization without actually wasting resources on the (possibly bad) vertical synchronization implementation of that application. Never had any game run worse on Windowed Fullscreen.įramebuffer is always locked to windows' refresh rate in windowed mode This only makes a real difference if you use a potato PC. While in windowed (fullscreen) it will have to share more of its resources (with aero, your browser, vlc, etc) and will have to write to a copy of the framebuffer in order to display pixels on screen.
